Envisioned Future is built on the belief that every nonprofit has the potential to imagine—and achieve—a stronger, more sustainable tomorrow. Success begins where vision meets leadership. By helping boards and executives articulate their purpose, align around shared priorities, and strengthen governance, together we turn possibility into a practical path forward.
The name reflects both a philosophy and a process. I partner with boards and management teams to envision the organization’s ideal future—one defined by mission clarity, effective leadership, and measurable impact. Then, through services such as strategic planning, board and staff development, organizational structure, CEO recruitment, and interim executive leadership, I guide organizations through the steps needed to realize that vision.
At its core, Envisioned Future represents more than a destination—it’s a commitment to continuous growth and confident leadership. Every service is designed to help organizations see further, lead stronger, and build the future they imagine.
Envisioned Future helps nonprofits connect vision, leadership, and impact into a cohesive whole. Meaningful, sustainable progress does not come from any one element in isolation, but from the overlap where these forces work together.
The power of the intersections
Where vision and leadership overlap, there is a shared sense of purpose—boards and executives are aligned around what the organization is trying to achieve. This is where Envisioned Future facilitates clarity, common language, and unified direction.
Where leadership and strategy intersect, the diagram reflects effective execution—leaders equipped to make sound decisions, manage transitions, and implement plans. This is supported through governance consulting, staff and leadership development, and interim CEO services.
Where vision and strategy meet, the overlap symbolizes intentional planning—strategies rooted in mission rather than short-term pressures. Envisioned Future helps organizations continually connect their plans back to why they exist and whom they serve.
The center: the envisioned future
At the very center, where all three circles intersect, is the heart of our work: nonprofits that are clear on vision, led with confidence, and aligned around strategies that create measurable impact. This central overlap is the “envisioned future” brought to life—a stronger, more sustainable organization that sees further, leads stronger, and serves its mission with greater effectiveness.
The three circles visually represent the belief that real transformation happens where vision, leadership, and strategy come together. Envisioned Future exists to help nonprofits live and lead from that intersection.

Envisioned Future is a nonprofit consulting practice dedicated to strengthening leadership, governance, and strategic alignment across mission-driven organizations. We work with boards and executives to envision the organization’s desired future and implement practical strategies to achieve it.

Mark McSweeney brings more than three decades of hands-on experience in association and nonprofit leadership, working side-by-side with boards and executives to strengthen governance, strategy, and organizational performance. He specializes in strategic planning, board and staff development, organizational turnaround, and management restructuring—always with a focus on practical, real-world solutions that teams can actually use.
Since starting his association management career in 1993, Mark has served in executive roles with national, international, and state-level trade and individual membership organizations. As a Certified Association Executive (CAE), he has led initiatives that delivered record membership recruitment and retention, stronger event attendance, reduced staff turnover, healthier financial reserves, and increased net revenue. Before moving into the nonprofit and association space, Mark built a foundation in the corporate world with roles at Xerox Corporation, Pillar Development Corporation, and as a professional recruiter.
A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Mark is deeply involved in his community and profession. He has served as president of the Indiana Society of Association Executives, president of the Rotary Club of Fishers, IN, and district outbound coordinator for the Rotary District 6560 Youth Exchange program. Mark has been recognized as the ISAE Association Executive of the Year. He and his wife, Cheryl, volunteered with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for 30 years as marriage prep retreat facilitators, enjoy wind therapy via their motorcycles, love to travel, and are the proud parents of three grown children and multiple grand dogs.
